Sacred Sound Journey

Toning, Harmonic Tuning Forks & Flute.

The purpose of the Sacred Sound Ceremony is to quicken the vibrational field of our physical bodies, thereby activating the dormant and innate memories of our God Essence imprinted within the DNA code.

The notion of an entire community entering into a conscious communion with the spiritual world has its roots in traditional and indigenous cultures and is just as timely and relevant in today’s world. Think of it as a Spirit Boat Journey with the boat a metaphor for the community.

The participants gather together within a ceremonial circle, with me in the center as facilitator. Each participant creates an intention for their journey, which they breathe into their heart. Through the application of conscious breathing, sound healing instruments and toning (see below), a higher dimensional energy field or vortex is created within each individual and within the circle or group energy field, so that we as a group, may commune more powerfully and directly with our God-Self, power animals, guardian spirits and ancestors.

With access to the omnipresent Source of Light and Love established within the circle, a paradigm shift occurs within the cellular consciousness, as the harmonic sounds activate the God seed within the DNA code. The overall benefits are profound and unique to each person covering the areas of Spiritual Awakening, Personal Transformation, and Holistic Healing, which provides for a uplifting and healing effect within the local community as well as to the planetary consciousness.

The Sacred Sound Ceremony/Spirit Boat Journey is composed of three sequential phases.

1) Severance: During the first phase, we sever our relationship to the world, as we know it. The mechanical, repetitive internal dialogue that describes and interprets our reality is dissolved. Our attention is drawn away from the collective trance of separateness and alienation and enters a pleasurable state of conscious dreaming, a place in between sleeping and waking. Once the internal dialogue is sufficiently dissolved, the body begins to breath deeply and fully, as if it is being breathed by universal breath. The hidden nature of the body as a portal or gateway to spiritual worlds is revealed, leading to the next phase.

2) Threshold Crossing: During this phase, a radical shift occurs to the assemblage point, a shamanic phrase that describes a movement away from a closed, localized perceptual field and into a open, multi-dimensional and inter-dimensional field of perception. This provides for a nourishing and nurturing communion with our God Essence and for communication with our power animals, guardian spirits and ancestors.

3) Incorporation & Return: This last phase involves the incorporation of the light body into the physical body and for the integration and understanding of communications with the invisible world. This marks our re-entry into the world of ordinary reality, now though infused with the qualities, visions and cellular transformations induced by the harmonics, overtones and the sacred geometry inherent within sound.

Description of Instruments

The didgeridoo is a trance instrument, about four to five feet long (or longer in some cases) and about two inches in diameter, made out of hollowed eucalyptus limbs, bamboo, agave stalks, elephant yucca or PVC piping. By means of circular breathing, wherein the breath is taken in through the nose while the cheeks are used like bellows, the didgeridoo is blown into in a trumpet like manner and is continuously vibrated creating a resonant world of overtones and harmonics that naturally induce an altered or trance state within the listener and the player.

Medicine Winds are another name for the natural and full circulation of chi throughout the body. The invoking of the Medicine Winds (derived from Chinese Taoist healing practices) allow for a preconscious dialogue to take place within the circle that deepens the group's connection with breath in all its dimensions. Ssss, shh, ahh, whoosh are a few examples.

Harmonic Tuning Forks are based on the Pythagorean musical scale. The Harmonic Spectrum is the full octave of tuning forks: C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C. They emanate pure sounds and overtones that relax and center you, align the spine and the physical structure and balance the energy centers. Each interval affects your nervous system in a different way by activating specific elemental qualities based on the five-element theory of Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. They are played by gently tapping one tuning fork against another.

Toning is the sustained, vibratory use of the voice primarily with the use of the vowels a, e, i, o, u. Toning allows for the full and free expression of our natural voice and restores the original vibrational pattern of the body (physical and subtle). The tones emerge directly from the perception of light flowing within each person and within the group energy field. Another way to describe this is that the Inner Light translates itself into sound or toning.

Tibetan Singing Bowls have been used for centuries. They have evolved into a meditation instrument used by many in Tibet, Nepal, and India. The bowls are played by two basic methods: striking the rim with a soft mallet which gives rise to beautiful gong sounds with long lasting resonance, and rubbing the rim with a stick which produces haunting, pulsating harmonics that can be sustained indefinitely.

The Journey Drum has traditionally provided the heartbeat and the pulse for the soul's journey into the upper and lower worlds. It is played softly to provide and maintain a ground and center during the ceremony.

The Gourd Rattle is another trance instrument primarily used for journeying. It helps to awaken ancestral memories stored in the bones as well as break up energetic blockages.

The Flute combines the work with sound and with breath and is the most personal of all the musical instruments similar to Harmonic Tuning Forks in its effects.
